Why Book a Wedding Videographer?

Common questions:

I have a photographer, why do I need a videographer?

How many times have you asked that question?

The answer most company’s give is you can't hear a speech from a picture, or you can relive your first dance, or you may even hear your grandmother laugh one more time. That is all important but it is so much more than that. Growing up I didn't have many photos of myself (my older sisters broke the camera...sounds a little too convenient and not all from jealousy), but what I had was mostly home movies. I would watch them all the time. Pop it in the VCR and just sit back and relax as the memories flood back.

Videography is more than just one day being filmed, it's about a couple's story they share. Why did you pick the song for your first dance? Maybe it was the song playing the first time you met or the first time you kissed or what if it's the song that you hear on the radio every time you are together so it only seems like it's meant to be.

Where do you get your laugh from...your grandmother? You share your day with so many important people, you can't imagine that day without them. The day is about you two as a couple and it is only natural you focus on that on the day of, but with video, we get any moments you might have missed. And the moments that you will cherish forever, with the people that you love.

Most importantly you have a beautiful love story unfolding throughout the day. The reason you two are together, how you two will look into each other's eyes, and how all the planning is worth the moment you come together.

3 Tips for Capturing Video while Traveling

When going on a trip, all the little moments like taking pictures can transport you back to the day. Although when the memory of the trip fades you wish you could live it all again. Oftentimes a picture doesn't do the adventure justice, but video brings you back. Video can show emotions, reactions, laughs, and the thrill of it all. Unfortunately, video can get a little tricky, blurry, shaky, too dark, too light - just so many things to think about. Video can be intimidating but it doesn't have to be. A few simple tips can make a world of difference.

Tip1: Panning

Slow your panning down! Your eyes work a lot faster than your camera, I know it feels funny but just take in the moment. Let yourself slowly pan your head from one side to the other, and just breathe in the moment. If you think about it as if you are stepping back and taking in the scenery, you often slow down your movement.

Tip 2: Body Position

Keep your arms close to your body. When you hold a camera or phone with your arms extended it can be hard to keep a steady hand. Keep your arms closer to your body and it will help as a small stabilizer.

Tip 3: Slow Down

Keep things rolling. Many times the best part of the video is the part that you miss because you hit stop too early. When filming, time goes by slow, very very slow, and what can feel like a whole minute of filming is more like three seconds. That's when slowing down comes back into play, not just with pans but with how quickly a video is stopped. It's okay for a video to run long, sometimes a special moment can be caught by waiting the extra few seconds.

Bonus tip:

Don't forget to have fun! Be spontaneous and enjoy the adventure you are having. Share the time with loved ones and make memories or travel alone if that's your style. Get creative and play around with the camera or phone, if it doesn't work out at least you can laugh about it later.
